Job Description:

Manage plantings of new varieties
Manage all seasonal activities, production practices and general vineyard maintenance
Assist in all aspects of visits from breeders, clients, variety inspectors and consultants to evaluation blocks
Weekly evaluation of varieties according to provided format
Update database with horticultural information on new varieties
Collect and interpreted climatic data
Keep update a filed book with all manipulation, sprays, handling and techniques applied
Protocols on harvest preparations for semi-commercial varieties
Local, as well as overseas evaluation results – horticultural and post harvest
Manage in-house research projects in conjunction with the Farm Technical Manager
Stay informed on technical aspects, as well as technology and research in general manly but not restricted to South Africa.
Quality Assurance
Assisting the technical team in development
Technical and quality specifications for growers/pack houses
Quality and post harvest handling procedures and protocols for specific markets
Knowledge of chemical applications & MRL’s
Communicate new varietal information to technical team

Qualifications:

National Diploma Agricultural Management
Passion for field of work
Self discipline
English – written & spoken
