The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the commercial function of the project, including measurement, invoicing, material and manhour costing, financial reporting, materials planning & control and monitoring and administration of contractual matters relating to the contract.

Based at Medupi, Lephalale
Salary R25-R28k per month, provident fund, medical aid, single status accommodation, Project allowance R8k per month, subsistence allowance R4k per month (R125 per day)

Education and Training
A formal Quantity Surveying qualification is required.
At least 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the Mechanical Services sector is a requirement.
Responsibilities
Ensure that the provisions and requirements of the contract are understood and adhered to;
Ensure that the company’s contractual and commercial position is protected and maximized;
Establish and maintain an accurate measurement system to ensure that all work carried out by the company is recorded and compensated;
Identify and evaluate any and all additional work;
Establish and operate an accurate value related assessment of progress at the required intervals and prepare interim and final billings;
Assess and provide accurate value related input to the financial reporting system;
Provide input or carry out the planning function on site, depending on the size and staffing of individual contracts (and in the absence of a dedicated planner);
Maintain confidentiality of company information;
Maintenance of files and records; and
Various other general duties.
Technical Requirements
Working knowledge of the FIDIC conditions of contract is required.
Fully conversant in the English language, additional languages will be an advantage
Be computer literate on Microsoft Excel and Access as a basic requirement.
Be able to work methodically and accurately with above average attention to detail.
