Location: Kyalami, Johannesburg
Description: A growing Research and Development and Manufacturing company requires the services of a R&D/Formulation Chemist to join their team. Key duties include: Demonstrate technical strength with laboratory bench techniques. Support development of new products from technical perspective within Personal Care, Disinfection, Veterinary and Pharmaceutical categories. Strong project management skills. Good formulation knowledge and understanding of chemical interactions. Lead product development process as it pertains to R&D functions. Implement and manage quality systems (ISO, GMP). Proper operation, standardisation and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and technical reports. Follow all quality procedures. Ability to interpret results from laboratory tests. Conduct performance and/or analysis evaluations of competitive products. Keep up to date on developments in science and technology. Make decisions and recommendations relative to project result. Work with manufacturing in order to qualify process scale up.
Key Requirements: BSc Chemistry or equivalent essential with 5 years’ experience in product development. Quality Management essential. Coschem Diploma preferred. Experience and training in Project Management preferred. Only South African citizens need to apply.
Additional Requirements: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Organisational, planning and problem solving skills. Timely execution of multiple projects’ objectives within established timelines. Self-motivated, seeking information from both external, and internal sources to accomplish objectives and meet project timelines. Ability to “think outside the box” and help with innovative formulations. Initiative, Self-starter. Attention to detail. Team player. Analytical.
Remuneration: Market related.
