Highly reputable firm of Consulting Engineers is looking for a Rail Design Engineer in their Johannesburg office. Minimum Requirements: • BSc Civil is required OR would consider a B Tech Civil qualification. • Minimum of 5 years previous experience. • Rail design experience essential. You will be required to undertake design development of civil engineering options for various rail projects and will include the following duties:- • Undertake the civil engineering design development activities so that they result in schemes that are cost effective, fit for purpose, and that meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality. • Undertake detailed design of the selected companies requirements • Prepare the full engineering design which will include design and check calculations, engineering specification, scheme drawings, design certificates and construction sequencing drawings as required • Support the Construction Design Management Co-ordinator during design development. • Liaise with the appropriate Project Engineer during design development so that the Work Package Plans for site works and surveys are produced and accepted to the required standards. • Liaise with the appropriate Project Engineer during site construction to resolve any emerging technical questions. • Proactively participate as a member of an integrated design team • Liaise and consult with Clients to secure smooth and successful consents and approvals • A demonstrable aptitude for option development including strong evaluation and decision making skills • A working knowledge of rail engineering; relevant successful experience working in Civil Engineering and an adequate understanding of all other rail related disciplines. • An ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment. • An understanding of all of the life cycle stages of rail infrastructure • Detailed knowledge of the Construction Design Management regulations
