REGIONAL COMMERCIAL MANAGER
Outline
• As Regional Commercial Manager, the candidate will be responsible to acquire new business opportunities in the West African Region and other as requested by Management at the time. Key responsibilities will be to build and maintain a strong network and portfolio of customers and meeting the sales targets set. Together with the International Projects (IP) Sales organization and our strategic partners, the candidate will play an important role in the exploration, expansion and growth of the market and define the commercial strategy in the region. The candidate’s perseverance, integrity and dedication will enable the company to build & strengthen long-lasting relationships with (potential) customers and ensure company’s solutions are consistently valued more highly by customers than competing offers. The candidate will be working closely with the support teams, based in the Netherlands and South Africa, to supervise the commercial & operational risks of the projects of his accounts.
• The candidate will play an important role in the exploration, expansion and growth of the western African Market and participate in the definition of the commercial strategy, in tandem with the IP Director Sub-Saharan Africa and his team.
• The candidate will be expected to deliver results with little direct supervision and be able to effectively engage with the rest of the Company International’ organization across the world. The will specifically partner with Finance and Operations teams to identify and properly manage risks associated with projects.

Main Duties
• Develop and execute a Sales Strategy Plan for securing IP Projects in West Africa;
• Identify, develop and maintain relationships with an agreed portfolio of customers including key personnel in dealerships;
• Acquire new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods, and relevant internal liaison;
• Meet Sales Target and margins
• Intimately engage with individual customer needs and develop propositions for solutions that will be most valued;
• Assess, on an ongoing basis, the quality of delivery of solutions to address customers’ needs and propose improvement opportunities that increase customer satisfaction
• Provide adequate and timely reports (financial, timesheets, etc.) and input for the sales forecast regarding assigned strategic accounts;
• Record, analyse, report and administer according to systems (EXACT) and process requirements;
• Provide input into marketing initiatives related to customer acquisition and execute marketing programs;


• Contribute to company’s strategic planning process;
• Effectively present and represent company in a professional and ethical manner;
• Reduce and maintain target account debtor days;
• Respond to incidents and disputes in a speedy and logical manner, in liaison with Operations Team;
• Ensure that contractual IP agreements correctly indicate the agreed commercial, legal and operational terms;
• Will participate in Sales Activities in other parts of the globe, as requested by your manager.
• Will be required to travel extensively in West Africa and other as required.

Skills & Knowledge
• Requires a degree in electrical engineering or at least a proven track record showing experience that equals an electrical degree;
• Track record working with Power Projects;
• Vast experience and in-depth knowledge on the energy and/or mining industry;
• Experience in opening new markets/ targeting new customers through active search & pro-active approach;

Other relevant knowledge or skills
• Has in depth knowledge of the English and French language;
• Has excellent, influencing and relationship building skills;
• Proven drive and ability to sell ideas/opportunities;
• Strong project management and presentation skills;
• Good understanding / knowledge of P&L accounting;
• Strong problem solving skills (comfortable with complex analysis);
• Ability to work effectively in a complex and matrix environment;
• Able to work without supervision;
• Good organizer and long term planner;
• Understand and demonstrate marketing principles;
• Product knowledge is a must
