As a Regional Editor on the Africa's Essential Dance Music News Team, you will primarily be responsible for managing local freelance writers in our key West African markets including Angola. You will also be responsible for the continued quality of lists, stories, interviews and other content in your region. You’ll be part of a high-performing team focused on growing the brand and community of passionate users. You will liaison between the media team and the marketing team to leverage relationships with different venues and talent to help amplify the brand and our content through events, marketing and email programs. You’re extremely proactive, motivated, and organized and you work well within a fast-paced, impact-oriented group. You will be based out of The Head Office in Johannesburg, South Africa and would travel 3 times a month.

Responsibilities
Meet regularly with the Deputy Editors, Executive Editor and Chief Editorial Team to plan editorial calendar and assist in generating story and list ideas
Write and edit headlines, subheads, and other content for posts; Proofread and copy edit all pages before going live
Commission articles from freelance writers
Edit and re-write stories and lists, some of which may be rejected or returned to the writer for revision; Work with photo team in selection of images for stories and lists
Send out briefs to writers, which can include word count, deadline, fee and writing style; Assist other staff to meet their deadlines; Stay current on the Dance Scene
