The Client:

This highly specialized global steel company and a leading producer on the global market for Advanced High-Strength Steels and Quenched & Tempered Steels (amongst other products and solutions), is recruiting for a Regional Sales Manager with a sound technical background and understanding. The role will focus on and develop this specialist market in Southern Africa within the Automotive and other industries.

With production plants in Sweden, Finland and the US, our client has an annual steel production capacity of 8.8 million tonnes. The company has capacity to process and finish various steel products in China, Brazil and many other countries. They create some of the strongest brands in the steel industry, and serve the strongest companies in the world. The South African business is already well established, including warehousing and light manufacturing/ finishing facilities.

The Role:

• With a renewed focus on the South African market the role will see you managing the high spec steel market with special focus on automotive and premium product strategy
• Incorporated within this are business development responsibilities including acquiring new customers and identifying opportunities for add-value products
• You will support the local organization with all sales policies and governance, price strategy and product strategy where necessary
• Take responsibility for on-going profitable customer relationships management and looking for new customers according to the strategy for the international region and product lines
• Take full responsibility for the assigned area with special focus on premium product sales strategy development

The Candidate:

• The ideal candidate will be in possession of an Engineering qualification with a Commercial postgraduate, however the right experience will take preference to qualifications
• Knowledge in metals products, special products, production technology is important
• Computer literacy and familiarity with CRM / sales management tools essential
• Strong sales and contract negotiation skills
• Experience within an industrial premium product (preferably automotive) environment / industry will give you a distinct advantage
• Confidence and the ability for technical argumentation
• The role will suit a SA national with some Spanish and/or French speaking language skills (ideally)

You are self managed, driven and organized with a proven track record for building sound business relationships. You should have excellent written and oral language skills and possess above average written and oral presentation ability.
