THE ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of regulatory change initiatives, specifically related to POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) for a leading SA Bank.
 
Working closely with the Bank’s Data Governance Office, the POPIA Content Deliverable Specialist, and various executive and senior stakeholders throughout the enterprise, the Regulatory Change Programme Manager will drive the key deliverables for regulatory changes, in addition to managing end to end governance related to the adoption of new regulation.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand, assess and dimension the impact of regulatory changes on the Processes, Product and client construct.
  • Drive the planning and implementation of regulatory change initiatives to meet key deliverables.
  • Govern the delivery and execution of change initiatives.
  • Identify and manage key risks and issues, provide regular updates to governance forums and drive the communications agenda with clients and client facing teams.

  • Exposure to various Business units within Corporate banking environment to have gained the necessary business experience for the job.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory & banking practices
  • Sufficient understanding of POPIA regulation and practices.
  • Understanding of the risks associated with substandard privacy controls.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • A formal degree/qualification would be an advantage
  • Data management qualifications would be an advantage
  • 3 years' experience working at an enterprise level with data compliance and regulatory change initiatives.
  • 3+ years' experience in the Banking Industry
  • Relevant experience and exposure to POPIA
