Research Specialist

Reporting Line: Head of Research

Full-time position (aligned to the SETA licensing period)

Johannesburg – Midrand Office

Remuneration: R450 000 – R570 000 CTC per annum.

Purpose of the role: To support the research department in carrying out skills development and labour
market research to inform skills planning in line with the National Skills Development Strategy III with
the focus on establishing a credible institutional mechanism for skills planning.

Responsibilities:

To assist in the compilation of a 5 year Sector Skills Plan as guided by the NSDS III,
including ongoing updates thereof;
Conduct quality research, analyze data (qualitative and quantitative research), interpret and
report research findings and recommendations;
Develop research proposals that are in line with the SSP research agenda
To conduct labour market analysis including the annual workplace skills survey interviews for the
banking and alternative banking sector;
To give input to the conceptualization of the organization’s current and future projects and ensuring that the projects are aligned to the Sector Skills Plan and the overall NSDSIII to address the scarce and critical skills for the sector
To ensuring that research findings are disseminated to the sector, policy makers and other role
players within the skills development fraternity;
To assist in the project management and administration of all research undertakings;
To engage in professional platforms and the broader public on issues emerging from research
findings;
To support the internal stakeholders with the conceptualization and the integration of research
projects;
To assist in the development, implementation and continuous review of the Research Quality
Management System;
To procure goods and services in line with the SCM policy and process; including the
management of the performance of the very service providers;
To conduct the impact assessment of the organization’s interventions/projects;
To carry out all administration duties for both Sector Skills Planning and Knowledge Resource
Centre.

SDA, SDLA, PFMA and other legislation that governs public entities
Minimum Requirements:
Honours Degree in Research Psychology or equivalent
Three (3) years’ practical research experience
Two (2) years’ project management experience
Ideal
Research experience in a SETA environment or public institution
Two (2) years’ knowledge management experience
