Researcher (1 year fixed term contract)

Main Purpose of the job

The Researcher will be a key member of the PRICELESS SA () team and will provide research support for the successful delivery of the project “Engaging the public in Priority setting for Health in South Africa”.
This project aims to modify an existing public engagement tool and implement the tool in a semi-rural community to determine if it enables public engagement in priority setting for health in South Africa.

Key Performance Areas
? Undertake research activities relating to the project “Engaging the Public in priority Setting for Health in SA” within PRICELESS
? Conduct literature reviews, systematic reviews and policy documentation analysis
? Collate, interpret and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data relating to the project
? Conduct fieldwork as part of a team to capture primary data
? Analyse, evaluate and interpret results of the research, making use of appropriate and innovative research methods
? Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis
? Prepare research reports and present information to the PRICELESS team or other groups
? Develop own or group work to publication stage, disseminating research findings through appropriate fora
? Assist with grant and report writing
? Draft letters, meeting agendas and prepare presentations
? Participate in internal and external networks, workshops and collaborative partnerships, representing PRICELESS in a professional manner at all times
? Uphold the values of PRICELESS
? Provide other research or office support to the project lead as determined
? The post holder will undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work, absence cover or new initiatives.

Required minimum education and training

Relevant Masters degree (e.g. MPH, Sociology, Development Studies)
