In reporting to the SHEQ Manager and Site Manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for, although not limited to, monitoring of all the maintenance and safety policies, inspect the construction site and ensure that all employees follow the established policies and safety regulations.

Job Description:

Make certain that all legal, company and site health and safety requirements are met
Identifying and removing of unsafe or hazardous materials from job sites
Ensuring that all workers wear the correct clothing (helmets, jackets and gloves) before starting their shift
Inspecting of site at the start of each day to ensure it is safe to continue
Developing and submitting of a comprehensive safety report of each inspection undertaken.
Performing of incident investigations to gauge measures that need to be taken to prevent from happening again along with writing a detailed report
Manage and report of all accident inspections, near misses and losses
Organizing and submitting of site-specific Safety, Health, Environment and Quality plans to adhere to the requirements
Conducting of daily and monthly Safety and Environment analysis to ensure the compliance with OHSA, NEMA, etc.
Managing of all Health and Safety documentation, along with Sub-contractor agreements and any other agreement requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant Diploma
SACPCMP Registered Safety Officer
Minimum of 3 years Safety Officer working experience on building projects to the value of between R20M - R50M
Knowledge of National Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety Acts
Good comprehension of ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18001
MS Word, MS Excel Computer Skills
Valid Drivers Licence is required
