Our Client, is a role player in the mining industry and requires a Safety Officer to start as soon as possible in Witbank.

Responsibilities:

-Assist in compiling the SHE plan

-Assist with risk identification, evaluation and development of safe work procedures

-Conduct or have conducted a hazard analysis and take the necessary corrective action

-Assist in developing a fall protection plan and ensure its maintenance and adherence to same

-Ensure all accidents are properly reported and investigated

-Assist in conducting regular SHE Audits

-Ensure Health and Safety representatives conduct monthly inspections and submit the required reports

-Ensure the contractors comply with the health and safety specifications

-Serve non-conformance notices and follow up on outstanding non-conformance's

-Where it is not possible to remove any remaining hazard/s you are to inform employees thereof and know what precautionary actions to be taken

-Ensure the implementation with the company system procedures for health and safety

-Issue all work permits prescribed or required

-Adherence to the procedures and requirements arising out of the MHSA and in order to maintain workplace safety is the responsibility of everyone

-Liaise with company's client in terms of Health and Safety issues

-Assist with the arrangement of pre-employment/periodic /exit medicals

-Assist and ensure all employees attend the necessary training and keep training matrix up-to-date

-Assist the HR department with the annual skills reporting

General Information:

-Age (25 and older)

-South African Citizen

-Fluency in Afrikaans and English

-Available for call out / Overtime when required


Requirements/Skills:

-COMSOC Qualification/Samtrac for Mining

-Minimum 3 years experience

-Must be medically fit

-Previous mining environment experience

-First Aid level 1-3 course

-Fire Fighting Course

-Risk Assessor

-Knowledge of MHS Act and Regulations

-Ability to work in a team

-Contractors pack compilation experience

Job Location: Witbank, South Africa

Time Frame: As soon as possible

Leave: 15 Days per annum

Type of position: Month-to-month position, posibility of becoming permanent depending on future agreement with client

Cost to Company: R 15 000pm - NO other benefits

Hours: Monday-Thursday 07h00 - 16h00 and Fridays 07h00 - 14h00
