We are urgently seeking an experienced and qualified safety officer to manage all safety aspects of our company and client sites in the country.The ideal candidate will be required to travel to different provinces and branches to foster a safety culture amongst all sites and workers. This candidate will also conduct regular internal audits and build up a NOSA 5-star rating

Requirements:

SAMTRAC qualification (MUST)
Safety Management Diploma or Degree
NOSA Auditors and ITIS certification
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Safety officer
Construction environment experience
First aid qualification
Extensive travel required. Must be available to travel to different provinces and sites on a weekly basis

Responsibilities

Promotes safe practices at the job site.
Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
Conducts toolbox talks and safety meetings
Conduct internal audits
Reviews and approves all subcontractor’s safety plans
Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
Conducts investigations of all accidents, near misses and IOD’s
Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to the relevant parties
Reports to concerned authorities as requested or mandated by regulations.
Establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
Watches out for the safety of all workers and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations.
Responds to employees’ safety concerns.
