Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng

Description: A local company specialise in laboratory instrumentation and consumables requires a Sales Manager in a joint venture with an international company. Their International partner is a leading global and independent provider of products, services and solutions to laboratory and production facilities. The duties will include: Establish, develop and manage a territory consisting of end users (research labs, laboratory facilities, R&D labs) and sub-distributors (trading companies); Maintain sales volume, products/services availability by staying up to date with the supply and demand; Establish new customers by delivering proposals to customers; Sell consultatively, detailing products, determine customer needs and requirements, and make recommendations based on the various solutions on offer; Work with management to develop new possibilities and strategic territory business plans for achievement of sales growth and quota attainment; Implementing sales strategies; Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current and potential customers; Manage the extensive product portfolio; Expand the company’s role with existing customers by developing retention strategies for evolving customer requirements; Attend distributors' meetings internationally; Represent and develop relationships with manufacturers; Work with collections team to ensure efficient debt collection; Utilize ones’ existing professional network, extensive knowledge of local business practices and political processes to achieve organizational goals. Territory to include specific customers to be developed in the African continent (excluding Egypt). Focus is on countries where French is not a primary language.

Key Requirements: BSc Degree or equivalent and 3-5 Years sales experience in Distribution, Lab Sales or Scientific Supplies. Multilingual (English and at least one other regional language). Experience in the African region preferred. Resident of a country in the Territory, or work permit holder within the Territory preferred. Willing to travel up to 50% of the time.

Additional Requirements: Science or Medical Technology background preferred. Business to Business sales experience. Excellent communication and interaction skills. Ability to handle difficult situations and interactions. Ability to work independently. Time management. Excellent analytical skills and ability to sell strategically. Ability to understand individual customer operations. Computer Literate (Microsoft Office) and experience with and Qlikview. Effectively use best in class selling processes (ie SPIN, Challenger, Miller Heiman).

Remuneration: Market related.
