Requirements
4+ years’ experience working hands on in an Agile environment
2+ years’ experience in a Scrum Master OR Agile Coach role in an Agile environment where Scrum principles, practices and theory was diligently applied
Experience working with multiple Scrum Teams simultaneously is required
Practical knowledge of successful Agile techniques as well as techniques for filling in the gaps left in the Scrum approach
Experience in the use, establishment and application of Atlassian products to support an Agile portfolio delivery process highly advantageous, e.g. JIRA, JIRA Service Desk, JIRA Portfolio, User Story Map, Confluence, etc
Experience in coaching teams and organisations in the adoption of Agile methodologies and principles advantageous
Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM, PSM II, CSP) advantageous
Computer literate and familiar with Office 365 or older Office suite of products
Active involvement in the local Agile community advantageous

Duties:
Work with multiple Scrum Teams in the fast-paced working environment of the Client’s Centre in Cape Town (software and web application development, as well as network and systems administration)
Serve and support the Scrum Teams
Educate and coach the Scrum Teams, the wider organisation and at times clients on the principles, application and adoption of Agile
Guiding and coaching:
Build and maintain healthy relationships with all members of the teams as well as with other colleagues in the organisation
Provide training, answer questions, teach skills, guide and coach the Scrum Teams and organisation on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to have delighted customers and stakeholders
Work with globally distributed Agile Coaches/Scrum Masters to ensure consistency and deliver continuous improvement in the application of Agile across the organisation
Facilitate daily stand-ups and retrospectives with each team, as well as provide support for the sprint planning, sprint review and backlog refinement sessions as required
Provide all needed support to the Scrum Teams using a servant leadership style and leading by example Ensure cross-team coordination
Removing impediments or guiding the Teams to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
Guide and coach the Development Teams on how to get the most out of self-organization
Guide and coach the Scrum Teams on applying the Agile/Scrum frameworks to their work processes, and facilitate discussion and decision-making on identifying gaps and how to fill them appropriately within the client’s context
Support and coach the Product Owners, especially with respect to refining and managing the respective product backlogs
Identify and propose areas for improvement and issues affecting effectiveness that the Teams themselves might not be aware of
Assess the Scrum Maturity of the teams and organisation, and coach the teams to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the teams and organisation
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving
Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution within the teams as well as relevant relationships/interactions with the greater organisation
Assist with internal and external communication (within the Scrum Teams and with the greater organisation), improving transparency, and radiating information
Maintain, monitor and communicate relevant metrics that help the team understand their progress (both within sprint cycles and also across successive sprint cycles)
Assist with the production of organisational and strategic reporting, as it relates to the Scrum Teams Communication
Communicate in the English language by telephone, email or in person, one-on-one or in a group setting, to clients and colleagues, conveying information in a simple and positive manner
Communicate regularly with the department manager regarding issues identified within the team, experiments being undertaken, and progress metrics and what is affecting them
