Job title: Second in Charge – Medical ICU

Reports to: Unit Manager

Location: Cape Town

Qualification & Experience:

• Registered Nurse qualification and be currently registered with SANC
• Previous ICU Ward experience
• Previous management experience is essential
• Flexibility is essential, this is a shift position but will be 7-4 in the absence of a Unit Manager
• Experience within the private hospital environment will be advantageous

Duties and Responsibility

• Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specification
• Ensure the ward team works according to the scope of practice on order to ensure the correct skills mix is utilised
• Ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction according to the hospitals policies and procedures
• Managing all stock used according to unit specific policies and protocols
• Control and manage staff hours leave in accordance with the company policy/manage labour hours according to PPD’s
• Ensuring records and accurate completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirements
• Maintain sound professional relationships with all patients, doctors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
• Effective risk management of the unit by complying with Health, Safety & Infection Control policies and procedures
