Core Purpose
Engineer/project manager in the Dams and Hydropower section. The applicant will be required to provide design and constructability of dam related engineering projects of high quality and on time
Minimum Requirements
• Degree in Civil Engineering, preferably MSc level
• Dam design and project leader experience (10 years)
• Professional Registration would be an advantage
• Fluent in English
Key Responsibility Areas
• Developing concept options, detailed design, constructability, cost estimation and construction supervision support.
• Client liaison, liaison with authorities, internal and external project management, technical design and review of all dams types e.g. earth embankment, CFRD, RCC and submitting tenders and proposals.
• The successful candidate will be required to manage dam, hydropower and other water related projects internally (company internal systems and processes) and externally including client liaison, liaison with local authorities and contractors, management of the design and tender documentation production process for Employer designed, Design and Construct and EPC type contracts, manage the tender, negotiation and construction supervision/owner’s engineer processes for projects both within and external to South Africa. A good knowledge of FIDIC and other contract forms would be an advantage
• The candidate must be able to undertake and review dam and associated works designs and demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of contract and construction procedures. (The candidate does not have to demonstrate highly specialized design knowledge , however this would be an advantage).
• The position is head office based, however the successful candidate must be prepared and free to travel extensively both within South Africa and within the African Continent to manage projects and engage in client and other meetings. Occasional travel off the African continent is also required.
• Identify, pursue and develop work opportunities in the dam and hydropower sector.Other ad-hoc tasks assigned by seniors within team
Depending on South African permanent residency status, the position can be offered on permanent or contract basis.
