An exciting vacancy exists in Sandringham for a Senior Engineer: Microsoft Systems.

Key Job Responsibility

  • Participate in the design and management of group policy.
  • Installation, configuration & management of multi forest; group policy objects; Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) and Certificate Services, and available ADFS servers.
  • Administration and troubleshooting of the MS Active Directory; Key Management Services (KMS); Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP); Remote Desktop Services (RDS); and Domain Name System (DNS).
  • To plan, design, deploy Active Directory and to perform Active Directory migrations/upgrades.
  • Provide level 3 support for multi forest and Active Directory Domain and Certificate Services.
  • Resolve incidents and fulfil service requests using a service management ticket tool and change management processes.
  • Provide level 3 support for core Windows roles and features.
  • Installation, upgrading and configuration of core Windows roles and features, including applications within a Microsoft Server IIS environment.
  • Creation of DHCP scopes, DNS zones and NPS rules.
  • Creation & maintenance of File Share servers, including folder and permissions structures and quotas as well as Remote Desktop Servers (RDS), including Gateway services.
  • Perform administrative tasks from the Operation Manager consoles and application support for the SCOM, SCCM, SCSM, FIM platforms as well as create and maintain monitoring and notification rules.
  • Review and update SCOM, SCCM, SCSM, FIM consoles, security, apply patches, create console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed.
  • Ensuring the correct metrics are being monitored for system availability.
  • Analysing and troubleshooting performance and workload trends.
  • Assist with the creation of DR plans, DR testing processes and recovery procedures for Microsoft systems and applications.
  • Keep DR environment in sync with production environment, and create DR documentation for Microsoft systems and applications. Test and document the successful recovery of the backed up systems onto DR Hardware.
  • Troubleshoot, manage and resolve all Microsoft Exchange, Office and AD related calls.
  • On-going maintenance and creation of documents for messaging environments (housekeeping, health checks etc.).
  • Identifying problems and bringing them to the Manager’s attention with sufficient lead time to avert crises.
  • System and application installation and configuration.
  • Ensuring that response times are kept within the parameters set in the SLA, including proactive problem identification and resolution.
  • Provide input into the development of IT processes and policies.
  • Conduct risk management.
  • Contribute to the development of technology roadmaps.

Minimum requirements & key competency

  • Min of NQF Level 6/ Degree in Information Technology
  • MCSE Certificate
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • COBIT Certificate (desirable)Certified Virtualization Professional (desirable)
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years’ experience working in an IT environment, 4 of which must be supporting Microsoft technologies such Active Directory, Exchange, Skype for Business (Lync), Load Balancing systems, and Citrix.
  • Inclusive of 2 years minimum in a Supervisory role
  • Experience developing and improving technical migration practices and procedures
  • Experience providing leadership to IT staff
  • Experience and skills in liaising with clients
  • PowerShell knowledge in Windows Server Administration and Automation
  • DSC accomplishments and deployments
  • Deployment of automation tools experience
  • Patch Management skills with SCCM and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS)
  • Fundamental understanding of Networking and Storage technologies including Load-Balancing, IP Scopes, DHCP, DNS, NFS, SAN and vendors such as Cisco, EMC and NetAppWorking knowledge of Linux OS in enterprise
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008
