A wonderful opportunity to get exposed to the global derivatives market. The candidate will initially be based in Stellenbosch, but transferred to the Isle of Man after 6 months for a two year period. The Accountant will be responsible for the accounting of several companies operating in various industries in both South Africa, UK and Europe.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum B Com Hons in Financial Accounting

Completed SAIPA / SAICA articles (preferably at big four or large auditing firm)

This position requires a focused, career driven person who is willing to travel extensively and live overseas (Isle of Man) for a few years. It will not be suitable for candidates with families.

South African citizen with fluency in both English and Afrikaans.

DUTIES

Responsibility for managing and training of the bookkeeper

Processing accounting entries in Pastel up to trial balance

Preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations

Calculating VAT and submitting VAT returns for the offshore entity

Calculating tax (provisional and final) and filing tax returns on e-filing

Compilation of management accounts

Preparation of finance packs (including the cash flow section) for finance meetings

Regular communication with management to obtain investee company accounts

Compilation of the annual financial statements of various entities using Caseware

Liaising with external auditors and preparing audit files

Calculating dividends to shareholders and filing dividend withholding tax on e-filing

Reviewing payments before being released

Identification of key business and financial risks

Improving and streamlining accounting processes and systems

Budget preparation for offshore and local entities and presentation to management

Executive summaries on budgets for presentation to management

Perform excel consolidations for the offshore as well as local entities
