Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Group Accounts Department, based at Distell Pretoria or Wadeville, Gauteng. The successful incumbent will report to the Head of Group Accounts.

Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Group Account Manager is responsible for managing a top 5 National Group Accounts (including but not limited to the following accounts: Spar, Overland, Liquor City, Bootleggers). The Senior Group Account Manager needs to lead a team and deliver revenue growth within Southern Africa. Maintaining a long term relationship with accounts and maximizing sales opportunities within them are key within our long term success

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to the following :

High performance customer service excellence
Ability to get orders to hit required target
Ensure you are the go to person when the GAM needs support within decision making from a GAM and Customer perspective
Implement Revenue Management principles and objectives
Recognise and react to competitor activities and strength
Proactively use Account Plans (internally and externally) and Sales Consultant Fact Sheets to maximize the company’s exposure and Share Growth
Improve price compliance for Brands
Responsible for the strategic management of identified National Key Accounts
Developing, presenting and executing account plans.
Budgetary control and operational reporting
Negotiation and present with customers at a senior board level.
Act as the key interface between the customer and all relevant divisions.
Establish internal and external relationship development, building and management
Ensure alignment of the sales functional excellence to changing market demands
Responsible for account profitability
Engage in and build on a constructive networking with customers

The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

A Relevant qualification in Sales and/or Marketing and/or Retail and/or Finance.
5 years’ experience in a Sales and/or Trade Marketing environment i.e. National Group Account environment at head office level
Sound management, negotiating, analytical and strategic thinking skills
Sound understanding of financial concepts and profitability analyses
Min 2 years Key Account Management track record and strong relationship building experience
Exposure to the FMCG market at management level, preferably proven history and credibility in alcohol industry
Computer proficiency in all MS Office packages
Good confident presentation skills i.e. the ability to present at board level
Professional approach and highly self-motivated
Adept at handling challenging interpersonal relationships
Strong competence in working efficiently in a complex multi-faceted setting
The ability to travel extensively as and when required
Strong leadership and motivational skills
The ability to work under pressure within a highly competitive environment
