PBT Group has an urgent requirement at a financial institution, for a DB2 LUW DBA who is willing to learn IBM Optim.
 
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for IBM DB2 LUW databases.
  • Collaborate with other DBAs to deliver comprehensive database solutions supporting business functions, OLTP systems, Information Integration, Data Marts and other enterprise data stores.
  • Accountable for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Work with development teams to promote changes to production.
  • Participate with team leads to implement tactical DBMS infrastructure/architecture solutions, leveraging the DBMS platform, DBA productivity tools, DBMS utilities, database monitoring, database connectivity, and DBMS access tools.
  • Initiate and/or attend design review meetings, and review solution design documents.
  • Maintain application/database system architecture diagrams and provide pertinent DB information and DB impact analysis.
  • Attend internal database design reviews to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.
 
Qualifications
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior DBA role managing and supporting mission critical production IBM DB2 LUW databases. Must have expert knowledge of DB2 LUW and best practices.
  • IBM DB2 LUW Backup, Recovery and High Availability expertise.
  • Must be able to create/configure/tune instances, databases and database objects, as well as modify existing ones.
  • Expert SQL skills including ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvement.
Communication Skills
  • Must be able to convey highly technical database concepts to DBAs as well and non-DBAs.
  • The candidate must be able to train others in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and business users.
  • Good leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
