RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate and apply client specifications across all design phases.
Support mechanical installation works cost estimation during tendering processes, including compiling RFQs for mechanical equipment, material take-offs, and detailed scopes of work for mechanical subcontractors, as well as conducting technical evaluations and adjudications.
Aid in procurement activities throughout project execution, including compiling RFQs for mechanical equipment, detailing scopes of work for mechanical subcontractors, conducting technical evaluations and adjudications, and leading kick-off meetings with vendors and mechanical subcontractors.
Assist in designing the layout of the plant.
Execute basic and detailed mechanical designs during project execution.
Assist in drafting and piping modelling, including responsibility for pipe stress analysis and pressure vessel design.
Select and design piping supports.
Approve and issue “Approved for Fabrication” drawings, including signing off as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) when required.
Supervise vendor and subcontractor equipment design and fabrication.
Manage mechanical design subcontractors and suppliers to ensure deliverables (technical, programmatic, cost) are met.
Facilitate communication and expedite processes between the Drawing Office, Mechanical Design Engineers, Fabricators, and Quality Control.
Manage the flow of information between the Drawing Office, Mechanical Design Engineers, Fabricators, Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Subcontractors, and Quality Control.
Coordinate with external consultants and design partners as necessary.
Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts.
Compile and manage as-built documentation.
Compile and manage vendor and subcontractor databooks.
Compile and manage plant technical and maintenance manuals.
Liaise with clients and subcontractors to ensure functional, safe installation, and maintenance within the project.
Provide project-specific input to the Project Manager to resolve construction issues during site work.
Assist with site installation and commissioning.
Investigate and coordinate corrective measures for issues arising on-site during construction and the warranty period.
Undertake small projects as needed.
Represent the company in meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar relevant qualification.
ECSA Registration as a Professional Engineer is a prerequisite requirement.
Eight years experience as a mechanical design engineer in the execution of turnkey
projects or a similar field (Water, Waste or Energy projects).
A good understanding of CAD software packages, such as 3D Plant would be advantageous.
Proven leadership and mentoring skills
Communication and Organizational skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Computer Literacy (Google Suite or equivalent)
