MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

• Assisting with the execution of routine activities within the microbiology laboratory
• To ensure the microbiology laboratory for company facility complies with
MCC/cGMP/PICS and corporate guidelines.
• Active participation in projects related to environmental monitoring, product sterility or
validity in microbiology laboratory results.
• Management and execution of projects related to the microbiology laboratory

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ACTION/REQUIRED INPUT/OBJECTIVES
• Results/output
• Assistance with execution of routine laboratory activities
• Ensure that sample submission forms are prepared before environmental samples arrive.
• Ensure that receipt, reconciliation, incubation and reading of environmental samples take
• place within stipulated timeframes within the laboratory
• Isolation of positive cultures when required
• Preliminary identification when required
• Preparation and Outsourcing of positive cultures to lab for identification when required
• Routine Endotoxin testing when required
• Growth promotion testing (GPT) on all incoming media (Capturing of results and communication and release to QC) when required
• Results communicated in time to ensure product release takes place timeously
• Compliance of the microbiology laboratory with required standards
• Ensure that the laboratory complies to all global / cGMP and MCC requirements making adjustments to the processes as new requirements are published
• Successful audits without any critical observations

VACANCY
• Job Description: Senior Microbiologist
• Ensure microbiology laboratory documentation is in line with Global requirements and cGMP /MCC requirements, adjusting local SOP’s as needed
• Audit preparation
• House-keeping of the laboratory
• Verification that Instrument maintenance has been conducted and that the equipment complies
• Waste management
• Updating of relevant SOPs
• Logging of maintenance calls Projects
• Be a member of or lead projects related to improvements in the environmental monitoring
• program, product sterility, the validity in microbiology results or aseptic processing
• Liase with production and Technical services on issues related to product sterility, compounding
• that may affect microbial cleanliness or product sterility and quality
• Ensure cycle of continuous improvement by assessing current practices and making recommendation for improvements
• Initiation of improvement projects

General duties
• Liaise with suppliers when necessary.
• Continuous assessment of current Micro laboratory processes and practices to Identify where further improvements can be made to the microbiology laboratory suggest changes required and follow up to ensure changes are
• Continuous improvement of processes within the microbiology laboratory.
