We are urgently looking for a Senior Ocean Freight Controller for one of our well established clients in Cape Town.


Requirements:

FIATA diploma
Matric
7 years’ experience in Ocean freight services of which 2 years in a supervisory role
Comprehensive knowledge of the forwarding and clearing industry, Incoterms and customs requirements
Forwarding and controlling
Client retention


Responsibilities:

Coordinate and control the designated team in ocean freight exports.

Ensure that ocean export team complies with designated systems processes; in terms of file registration and updates of event statuses, including the monitoring of indents, arrangement of forwarding, obtaining Marine Insurance Cover where required and liaising with foreign offices to expedite shipments in accordance with agreed client SOP’s.

Determine best possible routing requirements and Haulier usage

Optimise Ocean export team processes and performance through the timely updating of the Event Control on Procars, and ensure a high level of adherence to ISO procedures and assist with the implementation of any improvements as and when required.

Ensure that Ocean export team provides accurate cost, revenue and profit share data

Ensure that team arranges for the payment of vessel agent charges including the handover of shipments for non-clearing to clearing agents.

Ensure that all client rates are maintained on the PROCARS system for specific areas of responsibility.

Ensure that the ocean exports team interacts with clients as per defined client retention strategy

Lead the Ocean freight export team through coaching, developing and motivating subordinates including follow-up of team and individual performance against targets and objectives aligned with overall company strategy.
