Senior Product Development Technologist

Reporting to the R&D Manager in South Africa, the selected candidate will lead projects for the Industrial Business starting from creating the concept all through to the launch. This exciting end to end process is an important part of our international business and gives plenty opportunities to grow and learn. The role supports South African Industrial Business Strategy by taking a customer facing and proactive approach to the delivery of new products.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop and launch new products for specified customers to achieve sales growth
• Link design activity to business strategy by delivering innovative products within the constraints of the brief
• Use sound commercial and technical awareness of our ingredients, processes and customer requirements to deliver ‘right first time’
• Provide technical support to operations/logistics/purchasing for cost release, quality maintenance and improvement programmes
• Interact with customers to support relationship building and customer intimacy strategy
• Play a full and active role in the introduction of new products and perform validation, New Product Introduction (NPI) and routine releases for new and existing raw materials
• Maintain the company standards for administration, Health & Safety, GMP and housekeeping in the work environment

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
• Minimum 5+ year of experience in development and applications of coatings for poultry, meat and fish products is a must
• Hands on experience in customer operations in food area
• Line management experience and managerial skills
• Excellent communication skills on a managerial level
• Strong English is a must, other languages will be a plus (French, Italian, Polish, Russian)
• Ability to work in SAP system preferred
• Willingness to take ownership and interest in professional growth and development is the required mindset
