Scope of work/supply

The successful candidate will be an Enterprise Architect within the Group IT Strategy Execution & Architecture team responsible for the delivery of the following Services:

1. The Development of the Eskom Smart Grid Conceptual Architecture:

1. Identification of a ‘best practice’ Reference Architecture to be adopted by Group. The Reference Architecture will form your starting layout for the Eskom Smart Grid Conceptual Architecture.

2. Develop the Eskom Smart Grid Conceptual Architecture. This Architecture will express the key architectural elements and their relationships that will give shape to the Eskom Smart Grid.

2. The Development of a Logical Architecture Design for each of the Smart Grid IT Foundational Layers:

The IT Foundational Layers will be identified and defined within the Smart Grid Conceptual Architecture but will include the IT requirements required to enable the Eskom Smart Grid for each of the following Domains:

2.1 The Enterprise Domain. Includes amongst others:
i. ERP
ii. GIS
iii. CIS
iv. Asset Management

2.2 Electric System Operation. Includes amongst others:
v. EMS
vi. DMS (Incl. SCADA)
vii. OMS
viii. AMI (Head End)

2.3 Retail Energy Market. Includes amongst others:
ix. MDMS
x. Munic Metering as a Service
xi. AMI (Head End)

2.4 Distribution Automation. Includes amongst others:
xii. Loop Automation.
xiii. CVM
xiv. Fault Path Indicators
xv. LV Visibility

2.5 Transmission Automation. Includes amongst others:
xvi. Substation Automation
xvii. Transformer Monitoring Systems
xviii. Traveling Wave Fault Locations
xix. WAMS

3. Governance Approval:

The Smart Grid Reference Architecture and IT Foundational Layer Conceptual Architecture will require Group’s IT and OT Architecture Governance Approval. The Services will include:

3.1 Development of all Architectural artefacts required for approval by the Group IT Architectural Design Review (ADR) committee.

3.2 Development of all Architectural artefacts required for approval by the OT Design Review technical (DRT) committee.

4. Stakeholder Engagement Services:

Development of the Smart Grid Reference Architecture and IT Foundational Layer Conceptual Architecture extensive engagement with the Smart Grid Working Group and other core stakeholders within the Group IT, Distribution, Transmission, Customer Services, Research Divisions.

Requirements:

Three year Degree
8 years IT Architecture Experience
Relevant smart grid related knowledge
Togaf Certification
