Senior Systems Engineer
Description
Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of various software and infrastructure systems, as well as the installation, configuration and 3rd level support of internal core infrastructure and customer network services servers.
The Senior Systems Engineer may also be involved in the pre- and post-sales process which involves meeting with and scoping solutions for customers, as well as installing and configuring the specified solutions, providing documentation and so on.
What will be expected of you
As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be expected to perform the following tasks:
• Install and configure operating systems and related software (hypervisors), either on physical or virtual server platforms.
• Design, architech, test, deploy and maintain new software systems, platforms etc
• Install and configure various software systems as required for a particular solution.
• Provide 3rd level support on currently deployed systems to support teams.
• Propose and present systems solutions to a customer
• Lead proof of concepts (POCs) for a variety of network services systems
• Perform linux administration related to network services systems
• Write scripts to automate manual tasks
• Write SQL statements to manage data for network services systems
• Perform troubleshooting of network services systems
Qualifications
Key requirements
• BSc Computer Science or equivalent (other qualifications or work experience will be considered)
• 7 or more years working experience
Key abilities
• Exceptional skills with Linux system administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, FreeBSD, Redhat)
• Exceptional skills with Linux networking (basic routing, VPN, SSH, IPtables, etc)
• Superior knowledge of scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Python, Shell)
• High level of experience with database administration (MySQL) and the SQL query language
• Good networking experience and knowledge (IP, IPv6, routing, switching, vlans, etc)
• Web Development experience is an advantage (HTML, PHP, AJAX, CSS, JSON, Javascript, JQuery)
• OpenStack/KVM/OVS/libvirt etc experience is a significant advantage
• Experience with AAA protocols (Radius, Diameter, Tacacs) required
• Experience with SNMP based network management systems (Rancid, Cacti) an advantage
• Experience with proxies, load balancers, firewalls DPI a significant advantage
