As Service Desk Analyst you role is to support the South African arm of a multi-national organisation that offers private banking and wealth management services.

The successful incumbent will be based in Cape Town, as part of a small, efficient IT team supporting South Africa. Excellent communication in English is necessary as this person will work closely with colleagues located in and around the UK.

Proven experience in the IT industry with at least 2 years relevant experience in the Windows 2003 Server/Active Directory and Windows XP/ Windows 7 workstation environment is essential, as is good understanding of Information Security and knowledge of ITIL (ITIL qualification is desirable) 

The Service Desk is responsible for end user IT service delivery, support and access management provision - it is the hub of our client’s incident and problem management capabilities.

The role is to : 
  • ensure all staff can access the necessary hardware and software in order to perform their job role. 
  • provide IT first-line support to all users across the some second-line support when necessary 
  • build/update workstations, replace hardware and software as necessary and provide advice and assistance in order to keep the IT environment up to date and in accordance with bank requirements.
  • assist end users to use the IT platform effectively. 

To be considered you do require the following Technical skills  :
  • Active Directory 2003 administration 
  • MS Windows (XP & 2000) operating systems 
  • MS Office 2000/2003, including Word, Excel, Outlook & Access. 
  • Must be able to read and understand IT documentation in order to implement/upgrade new and current technologies and resolve ongoing issues. 
  • Citrix administration - would be a big advantage 
  • Document management software 
  • Desktop hardware, including Compaq, Dell and IBM Workstations and Laptop 
Highly advantageous is your Citrix experience and : 
  • Market Data Service applications (Reuters, Bloomberg.) 
  • Application packaging skills (Win-install, SMS installer.) 
  • Voice over IP knowledge. Cisco IP Phone Systems. Knowledge of Blackberries. 
  • Internet / Intranet systems plus HTML and Java applications. 
  • Helpdesk Call logging systems
