This Karoshoek solar thermal power project in co-operation with the company SERATYPE will start recruiting in April 2018 for the Operations Maintenance phase and we are inviting candidates with relevant qualification and experience to apply for the below permanent position:

SKILLED MECHANIC OFFICER
KAROS AREA

Requirements:
- Grade 12 with minimum experience of 2 years in the maintenance of thermal power stations.
- Experience with thermal power station processes, equipment mechanics (dismantling and assembly of pumps,turbines, valve systems, exchangers, etc.).
- Basic course on the prevention of occupational risks
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English

Skills:
- Analytical skills and a good eye for detail
- Planning and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities will include:
- Perform the mechanical maintenance tasks designated by the mechanical supervisor: perform preventive and corrective maintenance procedures (equipment repairs, etc.) to the
power island and the solar field.
- Meet the targets and carry out the maintenance programs (safe maintenance of the facility).
- Comply with the maintenance schedules and targets.
- Comply with the targets relating to facility reliability and availability.
- Effective management of the maintenance team.
- Reliability of the mechanical and rotary facility.
- Strict budgetary control of the maintenance section.
- Reports on the optimization of the safety of the mechanical section.
- Up-to-date and logical strategies for equipment maintenance in the area of responsibility
- Act as a substitute mechanical supervisor.
- Identify, draw up reports and make modifications to maintenance in their area of responsibility.
- Participate in the development of facility maintenance programs.
- Promote practices of awareness of safety/safety work done by mechanical staff and contractors, and take staff well-being into account.
- Supervise and control the maintenance team under their command.
- Take part in activities related to the revision and Maintenance of the facility.
- Take responsibility for controlling the quality of all the work under their control.
- Guarantee that all of the work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and optimum engineering practices.
- Keep up good teamwork, discipline and compliance with deadlines in the mechanical maintenance team.
- Coordinate with other departments and sections to guarantee fluid team work.
- Prepare the technical specifications for the supply of work and for reviewing external supplies.
- Identify training and development requirements for the mechanical staff.
- Review the inventory of spare parts.
- Follow all of the safety procedures of the facility.
- Take part in training activities on and off site, to either receive or give training as necessary.
- Guarantee the entry of feedback in SAP.
- Make any recommendations for improving the maintenance procedures to the mechanical supervisor.
- Ensure that the suggestions made for improvements to the facility, or to instructions if necessary, are revised.
- Perform a key role in the emergency plan of the facility and provide assistance to the emergencies controller, and the work team tasked with fighting fire.
- Perform other obligations decided on by the Head of Maintenance.
- Fulfill their obligations during the normal working day.
- It will be necessary for them to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, as well as be on call.
- The holder of the position is expected to comply with all legal and corporate health requirements related to their obligations and responsibilities.
