PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Senior Instructional Designer will provide vision, leadership and coordination in designing, developing and delivering fully online and blended courses and technology-enhanced instructional materials.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

• Communicates effectively in visual, oral and written form
• Identifies and responds to ethical, legal and political implications of design in the workplace
• Updates and improves knowledge, skills and attributes pertaining to the Instructural design process and related fields
• Conducts a needs assessment in order to recommend appropriate design solutions and strategies
• Identifies and describes target population and environmental characteristics
• Selects and uses analysis techniques for determining instructional content
• Analyses the characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and their potential use
• Uses an instructional design and development process appropriate for a given project
• Organises instructional programmes and/or products to be designed, developed and evaluated
• Designs and develops instructional interventions/materials
• Selects or modifies existing instructional materials
• Revises instructional and non-instructional solutions based on data
• Designs learning assessments
• Plans non-instructional interventions
• Evaluates instructional and non-instructional interventions
• Implements, disseminates and diffuses instructional and non-instructional interventions
• Ensure ISO compliance

SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

Qualifications:
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• BA Degree or relevant Diploma in English, instructional design, instructional technology, curriculum design or other related discipline required
• A minimum of 5 years professional experience in designing, developing and managing online, blended or other technology-mediated instruction
• Proficient in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, Four D Model etc.)
• Skilled in using MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
• A knowledge of other rapid development tools is an advantage
