MacDonald’s Transport and Warehousing, a well-established fast growing group of companies, with an equal opportunity policy, has the following vacancy in their depot in Elandsfontein, Johannesburg for a Supervisor: Yard.
Qualification:

The successful candidate must have Grade 12 and a valid driver’s licence. With outstanding organizational skills, a minimum of 2 years’ experience in team management with good analytical and numerical skills. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills, be an good communicator (verbal & written), with knowledge of the Health & Safety requirements. Must be computer literate and have knowledge of working time legislation.

Key Accountabilities:

Provide excellent operational and administrative support to the Depot Manager to ensure that customers' requirements regarding loads are met as well as to meet targets set by the company.• Ensure that loading and off-loading takes place on schedule.• Ensure through proper planning that turn-times of trucks in the depot are kept to a minimum.• Keep the yard, vehicles and equipment in an orderly and clean manner.• Managing the general laborers to ensure maximum productivity.• Daily communication with the controllers in Upington and Johannesburg to coordinate loads for the available trucks.• Ensure that loading of trailers in the depot complies with both Company policy and legislation.• Ensure that trucks and trailers in the depot are in a good and proper working condition - Report any defects immediately to the workshop.• Communicate any needs regarding loads, i.e. load lock belts, corner plates, etc., timorously to the responsible persons.• Liaise with controllers regarding loading and off-loading times and addresses.• Ensure that proper administrative systems regarding all loads are in place and up to date.• Daily control over equipment/break-bulk store.• General Maintenance of buildings and yard – Obtaining Quotes & Follow Up / inspecting maintenance carried out and any other related duties of general maintenance of buildings and yard.• Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in and around the yard/depot.• Daily, weekly, monthly reports are submitted to management as required.
