Supply Chain Planning Manager
Introduction

Our client, a leading, multi-national FMCG company is currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Financial Planning Manager to develop the Supply Chain Cost and Capital Algorithms and set the strategic financial direction for the Supply Chain Function within the SSA Region.
Description
Responsibilities:

Report to the Planning Director and manage a team of 2 direct reports
Lead the development of the Sub-Sahara Africa Supply Chain 5-year cost algorithm including setting targets for productivity & investment priorities, capturing commercially driven product investments, managing trade off discussions to deliver a sustainable algorithm
Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Procurement Director and Finance Director to evaluate purchasing assumptions on input costs, including co-ordinating commodity cover strategic direction for the business
Lead the development of the SSA 5 Year capital expenditure plan including setting targets for investment priorities (growth, productivity, sustainability, operating necessity), capital efficiency (benchmarking, capex: depreciation ratios)
Work closely with the Supply Chain leadership team to navigate the business and deliver on performance/trend analysis and interpretation, opportunity/risk management, cost and capital business navigation and trade off management
Lead Logistics and Capital performance/trend analysis and interpretation
Manage the financial resources supporting the Supply Chain planning process, and lead financial capability development for Supply Chain (people, processes, systems)
Provide financial leadership and guidance to the Finance resources at the Manufacturing sites, including key input to recruitment, objective setting, performance reviews and capability build
Lead the improvement of Supply Chain Finance capability including input to the Finance Talent Reviews and developing a financial process/systems improvement plan for SSA BU Supply Chain
Lead the annual planning cycle for Supply Chain
Lead core planning processes for SSA BU Supply Chain (Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Capital) – Strat Plan and Forecasts – discuss and align targets with Supply Chain Leadership team, deliver core process against clear timeline, manage trade-offs, risks, present plans etc.
Lead the financial performance tracking for Supply Chain
Corroborate with Control function to review month end reporting, explain key drivers, provide trend analysis, explain variances, interpret impact on future forecasts and recommend corrective actions.
Forecasting – lead Supply Chain/Capital monthly forecasts, prepare routine and ad-hock forecasts, explain run rates, manage trade-offs, highlight risks, agree corrective actions
Capital – robust reporting on a period basis for capital/project expense asset write offs
Lead Capital Expenditure project evaluation and manage the capital approval process both with SSA BU and across the Sector as required
Ensure robust financial evaluation & business case development for capital expenditure proposals – review/amend economic assumptions to ensure robust for smaller projects, lead business case development including economic model for larger projects
Responsibilities:

Qualified Accountant and/or MBA
10 years Senior Finance Management experience from a multi-national FMCG company including good knowledge of FMCG business systems (from operations through to sales) and strong manufacturing experience
Experience in Supply Chain Finance or Finance Planning within a manufacturing environment
Sound project management (lead core planning processes, capital projects) and strong analytical skills
Astute commercial judgement and investment appraisal skills
Resilient individual with high energy, ability to break down barriers, strong adherence to deadlines
Ability to set & manage a broad and frequently changing agenda
Strong people management skills
