Requirements:
• A master's degree or equivalent qualification in Mathematics
• Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, the Engineering field and/or Economics (with econometrics)
• Energy studies in addition to the above will be and advantage PLUS the following key competencies:

Knowledge:
• Policies and Legislation which govern the energy sector
• The energy sector with specific understanding of upstream oil,gas nuclear and coal supply markets
• Renewable energy markets
• Local and global trends as well as economic drivers which impact on supply options for energy
• Supply optimisation and modelling techniques as well as various energy technologies

Skills:
• Energy Modelling, Mathematical and Econometric modelling, Supply optimisation modelling, Policy analysis, Translation of concept into mathematical or analytical models

Communication:
• Good Communication Skills,Technical Report writing

Creativity:
• Assertive, Analytical, Self-driven, Motivated, Attention to detail

Duties:
• Provide Specialist services pertaining to energy supply optimisation modelling
• Conduct analyses of various energy supply options
• Develop and Maintain energy supply optimisation models
• Conduct research on existing and potential energy supply technologies to inform the energy planning process
• Analyse the impact of energy policies and other sectorial policies on current and future energy supply options and the energy sector
• Analyse and interpret model outputs to inform/ advise on policy formulation and energy planning
• Continually evaluate modelling methodologies
• Interact with various stakeholders (Government, State-Owned entities and technical experts)
• Provide expert advice to management on strategic direction regarding energy supply matters
• Mentor Departmental staff on energy supply options matters
