Our client the biggest Retailer based in the Western Cape is in search of a Systems Engineer/ Production Engineer. You need to have an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including Linux and operating systems.



Qualification:

Matric

3 year Computer Science Degree (or equivalent experience)



Skills & Experience:

At least 2 years of professional experience

Linux experience (Ubuntu/Debian)

Shell scripting

Python, ruby, or a similar language

Configuration management (chef, puppet)

Common web stack applications (nginx, apache, varnish, haproxy, memcache)

Database operations (MySQL, PostgreSQL)



Job Description:

Supporting a 24x7 production environment, as well as development and test environments.

Troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues.

Collaborate internally to design a scalable and supportable architecture.

Ensure maximum uptime and performance for one of Africa’s largest ecommerce sites.

Monitor and trend all aspects of the infrastructure to ensure things are performant.

Bring innovative ideas and technologies to the organization.

Develop automation for routine and complex tasks.
