JOB PURPOSE

The Systems Support Engineer’s role is to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all hardware and equipment. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone or via remote access) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.


JOB DUTIES:
Domains:

• Registering of Domains on EPP system.
• Accepting Transfers of domains via ****@*****.***
• Managing and ensuring domains and all information is correct.
• Dealing with all support queries regarding domains.

DNS Servers:

• Maintaining of DNS Servers.
• Making sure records are Accessible and resolved.
• Managing all support queries regarding DNS.
• Assisting with routing and resolving DNS.
• Switching off DNS records from one provider to another.
Mail:

• Setting up new clients domains on their different platforms.
• Managing mailboxes and databases limits.
• Assisting with all support queries regarding mail and issues weather it is sending or receiving or general queries.
• Monitoring space of the mail servers and size limitations of the mails.
• Managing onsite mail servers of clients.
• Assisting with setting up clients for spam filtering and authentication logging etc.
• Migrating of mails from one hosting platform to another.
• Upgrading databases and limits of domains.
• Blacklist query and getting blacklist attempts uplifted from spam providers.
• Maintaining and monitoring the relay mail servers.
• Reading logs and making sure mails don’t get blocked.
• Monitoring and blocking ports for users that send out spam via our relay.

Website Hosting:

• Setting up and providing clients with FTP details.
• Setting up and providing clients with PHPmyadmin login details.
• Setting up, maintaining and providing access for client portals.
• Managing support queries from clients and assisting with requests.

Servers and Virtualisation:

• Maintaining all physical and logical servers for clients and for internal servers.
• Implementing and recommending new solutions and ideas to make changes to current infrastructures and policies.
• Monitoring and maintaining upkeep of virtual and physical servers.
• Installing and setting up of servers and clients on existing servers or new ones.
• Managing and adding clients to netflow.
• Managing and adding clients to recktables.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• A+ and N+ certification
• Experience networking and PBX systems
• Knowledge in structured cabling
