JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Is responsible for management of indirect tax risks. This includes tax compliance issues, monitoring of potential indirect tax risks as well as identifying and implementing tax efficient structures within the group to minimize these risks, in conjunction with the Group Tax Manager.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
• Managing Tax Risk Management with regards to indirect taxes.
• Ensure VAT and PAYE compliance.
• Providing advice on VAT and PAYE.
• Performing regular health checks at operations.
• Performing savings-reviews.
• Maintaining VAT policies and procedures.
• Dealing with SARS queries and audits.
• Performing VAT risk analysis.
• Responsible for VAT testing and reconciliation of VAT returns to financial statements.
• Responsible for continuous VAT education to the business units.
• Implement Tax changes in the business as and when the tax legislation changes.
• Review contracts and advise tax consequences.
• Be available to all sections of the business and give guidance in matters relating to indirect taxes.
• Review existing accounting procedures and tax treatment to ensure compliance with tax legislation.
• Implement control measures to ensure adherence to deadlines and tax legislation.
• Ensure that the company complies with the relevant tax payment deadlines to eliminate the possibility of tax penalties.
• Ensure that the various electronic systems (existing and new) are compliant with tax legislation (especially VAT & PAYE).
• Consult with Revenue officials, tax consultants and auditors in order to resolve queries.
• Proactive approach in ensuring most effective tax structuring of transactions etc.
• Responsible for review and control of PAYE tax risk relating to labour brokers, independent contractors and personal service providers.
• The applicant should demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply his/her tax knowledge to situations.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• A B.Comm (Accountancy) degree with a post graduate qualification in Tax.
EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of 5 years relevant tax experience in business or industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• The incumbent must be pro-active in identifying potential problems and creating solutions.
• High level of organizational skills and ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects at a time and meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment.
• Must have the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization and with various outside consultants as needed.
• Adaptable and should be able to cope under pressure.
• Be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Some travel to local and foreign subsidiaries may be required.
