A Pharmaceutical Company based in Centurion, needs to appoint a Technical and Product Development Officer. This is not lab based position; it is theoretically focused product development and technical detail/elements maintenance.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE:
Provide product development support in terms of all specified and non-specified elements that contribute towards the development and improvement of various products.

Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Biological or Medical Sciences, preferred fields on the following:
•Human Physiology
•Chemistry/Biochemistry
•Herbology/Complimentary medicines
Honours Degree preferred or Degree (Level will influence the years and field of experience required)
Experience:
•At least 3 years’ experience in research and development in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or food industry or related field within a technical capacity.
•Plus must have at least 2 years in a complimentary medicines field within a technical capacity
Knowledge and Skills:
•Knowledge of new product development focussed on safety, efficacy and quality of the product.
•Ability to analyse and interpret data (related to journal articles, monographs etc.)
•Technical trend analysis related to new product technologies.
•Basic knowledge of regulatory (medicines control council) requirements would be desirable.
•Good verbal and written communication skills.
•Good computer literacy in Microsoft applications especially MS Excel (compulsory) and MS Outlook
•Administrative skills
•Strong organising skills
•Strong problem-solving skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
Provide product development support in terms of all specified and non-specified elements that contribute towards the development and improvement of various products.
MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THIS ROLE:
•Providing scientific support to all departments within the organisation, and supplying technical advice and input to the marketing and sales functions.
•Product development support: Development of products in line with current regulations, insuring optimal formulations at an affordable price to the consumer.
•Improve current products in terms of quality, efficacy and safety while in line with the current regulations at an affordable price to the consumer.
•Provide support with quality technically correct information supply (including all packaging) to consumer through all communication channels while still in line with the current regulations.
•Assist with clinical trials: identifying resources, managing the project and implementing the data attained within the company.
•Contact research and use various methodology which include the analysis and interpretation of data in the mainly public domain.
