Our client currently has a vacancy for a Technical Buyer to ensure all items required for stores are bought to the correct specification and quality, on time and cost effectively. Build good relationships with suppliers and evaluate their performance from time to time and make changes when required.

The successful incumbent will have experience in a heavy engineering industry but working in an office environment, together with 5 years working experience in purchasing.

Job Description

Buying of stock for stores and assisting in buying for services by:
Sourcing items / materials
Getting quotes
Negotiating prices
Placing order on NAV
Tracking orders
Following up on deliveries
Rectifying and receiving of invoicing queries
Ensuring stock is bought for stores as per Store Foreman’s request
Checking the need for additional stock items, creating them and setting re-ordering stock levels together with the Logistic Manager

Buying according to Production order / IPL
To ensure items are bought before picking date by store

Buying of HSSA (Health, Safety, Security and En- Sourcing items / materials

Buying of facilities items
Improve and minimize supplier base where possible
Consolidate orders
Source single supplier for bigger quantity and better prices
Set up contracts and SLA’s

Foreman Buying
Buy all requests made by Foremen
Keep track of requisitions and try and consolidate them

Material to be sent for treatment (galvanizing, blasting and priming etc.)
Place order and coordinate material delivery and return.
Materials to be treated as requested on time.

Buying for tool store
Buy all parts or tools required for stores
To be bought and delivered as requested

Machine repair
Placing orders for machine repairs
Place order as required keeping track of turnaround time.
