Server Hardware: HP Proliant Server hardware: EMC Storage
O/S : Suse Linux Enterprise 11 SP3
Applications: Control/m, SAP Hanna, Netbackup, SAP ASE etc..
Responsibilities
? Ensure the reliability, availability and security of the O/S assigned to the company. No default user-id’s, password and system settings to be used.
? Ensure the Servers assigned to the company are configured optimally and perform efficiently.
? Suse Linux Servers must have the most recently released, appropriate software patches as per the Client’s requirements.
? Regular user account audit trail signoff. Logging mechanisms and the ability to track user activities must be implemented.
? Ensure that Server Administration requests from THE CLIENT’S application software suppliers / developers that have an effect on Production, Development and Test environment are handled timeously and effectively.
? Ensure that any changes made to the The Client environment adheres to The Client’s standards and quality measurements. (i.e. Firmware Drivers & hardware upgrades)
? Ensure that O/S enhancement requirements between the Development, Test and Production environments are timeous and the quality and performance measurements are adhered to.
? Log and track all queries and requests via The Client’s call logging System (HSPD), and distribute for analysis and reporting to the respective management.
? Ensure adherence to internal fault management procedures by ensuring that faults raised by support personnel are tracked and closed with a reason and resolution.
? Ensure adherence to internal escalation procedures and internal change control procedures.
? Contribute to Standard Procedures and Quality Measurements.
? Ensure that the requirements of THE CLIENT are understood through attendance of meetings.
? Perform after-hours standby when required to do so.
? Disaster recovery planning shall be performed by OptiSolutions so as to ensure the
continued availability of the functionality offered by the applicable applications. The
drafting of the Disaster Recovery plan will be undertaken by The Client and reviewed
periodically by both parties.
? Comply with The Client’s defined Change and Release management policies and
schedules.
? All project work relating to The Client’s Suse Linux Server environment.
? Drafting of all Server Administration documents (procedures and processes).
Tasks
? 24x7 Production Servers availability monitoring through Sitescope: Server up/down and
relevant services
? 24x7 proactive monitoring for latent and current problems
? O/S monitoring 24x7 through Sitescope: disk space, CPU and Memory utilization and
server performance (relevant to the O/S parameters)
? Preventive File system monitoring: logs, space allocation and space management of o/s
files structure
? Monitoring: runway processes, etc.
? Fault Management and call resolutions, etc.
? Fixing critical O/S problems emerging in the course of normal and abnormal operations
? Recovery Strategy and Back-up processes to support the strategy: Planning,
Implementation, Regular monitoring and maintenance
? Comprehensive real time, daily, weekly, and emergency reporting
? User and Access Management.
? Response time to the Server critical alerts/or emergencies as per SLA
? O/S upgrades, fixes, and patches and reinstallation
? O/S performance tuning
? O/S Support of development community
? Development server(s) support on as needed-on-demand basis. (business hours only)
? Emergency response Server Administration work required to return O/S back into service
? Preventive O/S maintenance and administration
? Back-up process strategy: Planning, Implementation, Regular monitoring and
maintenance
? O/S implementations and configurations
? All admin procedures and processes adhere to The Client’s compliance standards
? Project Management of Server implementations
? Customized disaster recovery strategy and procedures
? Deployment of any new servers / virtual system.
? Liaison with facilities teams, vendors, suppliers and VMware administrators during
installations and maintenance of servers and system.
? Interface with Network administrator, Storage teams and application / system owner on relevant issues and requests.
? Custom application/scripts monitoring and notification
