Tongaat Hulett is an agriculture and agri-processing business, focusing on the complementary feedstocks of sugarcane and maize. Its on-going activities in agriculture have resulted in the company having a substantial land portfolio within the primary growth corridors of KwaZulu-Natal with strong policy support for conversion at the appropriate time.

Minimum requirements for the role:
A technical qualification such as a BSc Agriculture, Plant Pathology, Weed Science or Entomology is essential
Minimum 3 years’ experience in R&D trials is essential.
Knowledge of the relevant crop, pests and control strategies is essential.
A thorough understanding of technical characteristics of relevant crop protection products would be ideal.
Established relationships/networks and memberships with key crop, academic and government institutions would be advantageous.
Previous experience with crop protection products would be preferred.
Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Sound ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Monitoring Crop Protection product recommendations in the market and ensure they are used in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Actively participating and liaising with industry research bodies where applicable and relevant
Providing input into Business Cases which are relevant for new products to be introduced as well.
