Overall purpose of the position:

The purpose of the position is to conduct audits in order to ensure continued adherence to the Service Level Agreements with Insurers and PSG processes from an underwriting and claims perspective. In addition, manage the profitability of underwriting facilities granted by Product Suppliers. The main focus area of the position will be personal products. It is also expected to provide technical underwriting support to the short-term insurance advisers and internal staff.

The ideal candidate for the role will be a highly analytical, detail orientated and resilient person with extensive personal lines experience. The person will have a keen eye for detail and a quality orientated mindset.

The person must have been exposed to writing underwriting rating, guidelines and policy wording as well as exposure in portfolio management from a profitability perspective on Personal.


Key activities:
• Conduct monthly audits on Underwriting activities: The audit scope will include new business, endorsements, amendments, reinstatements, renewals, Pro-active analysis to determine trends and potential risks and/or losses to increase profitability
• Conduct multi-claimants report analysis, propose and implement suitable action.
• Conduct portfolio analysis to identify trends and propose solutions
• Conduct on-site audits at selected branches when necessary
• Complete telephone quality assurance audits
• Assist advisers with technical product and underwriting enquiries
• Assist manager with product development from an underwriting perspective
• Portfolio Analysis
• Provide support to the Personal Business analyst from a product and underwriting perspective
• Provide support to the National trainer on relevant product to ensure high quality training material

Qualifications & Experience:
• Full NQF Level 4 Short-Term Insurance Qualification
• Regulatory Exam 5 (Representatives) successfully completed
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with Personal Lines Underwriting and Claims
• Previous audit and profitability management experience will serve as an advantage
