Purpose of the Job
The Technical Writer is a professional writer who designs, structures and compiles, writes, creates, maintains, and updates technical documentation—including online help systems, user guides, white papers, design specifications, system manuals, and other documents.
The Technical writer is responsible for describing the way the product/module works, into language that will be easily understood by the average product user. In order to produce well informed documents the Technical Writer will also need to liaise closely with both the Product Management team, as well as the Solution Delivery team, in order to ensure all aspects of the product functionality are comprehensively described.
Technical writers possess a mixture of good technical and language abilities and are able to express them in written and diagrammatic forms.

Qualification/s & Experience
Matric
Ideally, a degree or diploma in information systems, computer science or other healthcare relevant disciplines from an accredited school.
Other Requirements
Previous experience in Product Development and the professional services industry, particularly in the technical development of software;
•Skilled in the design and architecture of the Information.
•Previous experience in developing Training material
•Good Illustrative abilities
•Good Typography skills (the art and technique of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs)
•Previous experience in Product Development and the professional services industry;
•At least 5 years experience in a technical writing role;
•Good research skills
•Excellent English language skills.
•Excellent English technical writing and interpersonal communication skills and ability to peer review technical documents for grammar, content and style of writing.
•Broad understanding of help coding methods and best practices
•Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
•Self motivated and directed
•Keen attention to detail
•Ability to work under tight timeframes.
