Mandatory Requirements
• At least a NQF 5 in a telecommunications or relevant technical field
• 2-5 years’ experience working in a telecommunications indoor and outdoor plant environment i.e. cabling, fibre and wireless network infrastructure as well as switching facilities and data centres, and associated infrastructure and equipment
• Relevant experience in asset management survey and data capture
• 2 years in telecoms network inventory records maintenance particularly in the ‘GE Smallworld PNI’ tool
• Certified to climb and work at heights
• Valid driver’s License
• Own transport
Qualifications and Experience

• Communication skills (both written & spoken)
• Experience in project environments
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of telecommunications network infrastructure elements (indoor and outside plant)
• Knowledge of formal plant & equipment audit and assessment (use and condition)
• Understanding of the importance of asset information and verification in a telecoms environment
• Understanding of a telecoms network infrastructure i.e. optic fibre, cabling as well as microwave and High Site environment, switching facilities, and data room infrastructure
• Understanding of telecommunications network elements, including basic MPLS and IP networks elements
• Understanding of PABX environment
• Ability to plot the location of identified equipment and capture all relevant data into an instance of Smallworld
• Knowledge GE Smallworld PNI
• Interpersonal skills – dealing with site facility management at various sites
• Planning skills in a project environment – scheduling visits and assessments
