Our client is looking for a Toolroom Foreman to be based in Cape Town. Reporting directly to the Toolroom Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain tool making standards at a high level
• Maintain overall discipline and productivity of the Toolroom
• Consult with the Production Foreman on delivey of predetermined priorities for the factory
• Oversee the Tool Store Operator
• Estimate and enter hours to complete a job into the Order Database
• Organise the manufacture of tools according to the latest “Official Issue” drawings
• Plan the workload of toolmakers and machines
• Monitor the planned in house manufacture of tool making tasks
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in the Toolroom
• Order Toolroom requirements for raw materials
• Order consumable items and small tools, update the Consumable Database and control the issue and judicious use of these
• Raise and follow up orders on sub-contractors through the buyer (e.g. Heat treatment)
• Control and order planned maintenance and breakdown repair of machines
• Implement planned training programmes and monitor progress, including engineering apprentices
• Safety and security of Toolroom personnel and equipment

AUTHORITIES

• Toolroom discipline and output quality
• Deployment of all Toolroom production, equipment, accessories and consumables
• Ordering Toolroom requirements within a prescribed budget

REQUIREMENTS

• Qualified artisan
• National Technical Certificate N3
• Jig & Tool making, Metrology
• Computer literacy
• Mininum 6 years as a qualified Jig & Toolmaker
