Job Summary Statement: The Company is a multi-disciplinary construction group, anchored in South Africa and focused on selected infrastructure, energy and mining opportunities in Africa. This job will be responsible for the arrangement and maintenance of all accommodation of traffic required for the duration of the contract. The TSO shall liaise daily with the Safety Officer in order to maintain proper traffic arrangements.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Grade 12
•Qualification in Road Traffic Management (would be an advantage)
EXPERIENCE:
•3 Years’ Experience
Duties & Responsibilities:
Traffic Accommodation
•Responsible for keeping the temporary traffic accommodation requirements up to specification for 24 hours, 7 days a week
Traffic Signs
•Compile and maintain a complete daily record of all traffic signs that are to be installed, together with the traffic signs sequence at each location, during the execution of the contract.
•Inspect the state of all required road signs and report back to the Safety Officer as per his / her requirements.
•Responsible for keeping all road signs and traffic cones clean and visible at all times.
•The TSO shall provide, erect and maintain the necessary traffic-control devices, road signs, channelization devices, barricades, warning devices and road markings (traffic-control facilities), as shown on the drawings and in the South African Road Traffic Signs Manual and shall remove them when no longer required.
Traffic Safety
•Exercise control of traffic safety over the site movement of personnel, visitors and plant on site, as well as the wearing of high visibility clothing and the operation of amber flicker lights.
•Ensure proper display of "Construction Vehicle" signs.
•Compile records of traffic accident scenes which are connected with the construction activities and draw up accident reports, which include photographs.
•In conjunction with the Safety Officer; attend to all complaints and claims from the public with regards to traffic safety and report on such matters to site management.
•It will be mandatory for the TSO to ensure that the abovementioned traffic-control facilities are present at all times and are functioning properly, prior to any section of the road which requires the above facilities being opened to traffic. The TSO shall submit his proposals in this regard to the Safety Officer for his / her information and comments.
•The TSO must put in place any inadequacies to the temporary traffic-control facilities.
