Essential Requirements:

• Matric
• Degree or diploma in transport and logistics
• Knowledge of traffic legislation and regulations and road safety.
• Background in Transport and Logistics.
• Knowledge of the transport industry.
• Logistics skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to problem solve effectively and timeously.
• Strong organisational skills.

Main Objectives:

1. Effective management and control of Gearhouse transport and logistics for the JHB Branch.
2. Cost effective management of the maintenance and repair function within the Johannesburg branch, pertaining to vehicles.
3. Supervise costs within Operations Administration areas of the branch, by monitoring Administration activities and acting as authorising signatory on all job-related expenditure and freelance drivers & casual labour invoices.
4. Adherence to the Client Value Chain by the Administration Teams, ensuring consistently efficient performance, accuracy and cost control.
Responsibilities:

TRANSPORT

• Actively manage the Transport team and process: scheduling; punctuality, delivery and optimisation of the transport function to ensure adherence to Client Value Chain and the Central Operations scheduling.
• Ensure that equipment and crew is dispatched/collected as scheduled
• Assist with the allocation of specific drivers and vehicles to relevant jobs, in conjunction with Central Operations.
• Monitor vehicle log books and ensure that all details are consistently and accurately recorded in conjunction with Transport Supervisor.
• Ensure that Vehicle Release Forms are reconciled with the Operations Transport Schedule.
• Monitor drivers’ adherence to the SA traffic regulations and legislation.
• Work closely with Operations Team Leaders in other branches to coordinate interbranch trucking movements
• Ensure that all drivers are conversant and up-to-date with the appropriate Traffic Acts and regulations in conjunction with the Transport Supervisor.

VEHICLE SERVICING

• Ensure that Gearhouse company vehicles are serviced, are in roadworthy condition and maintained in accordance manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Keep all Company vehicles up-to-date regarding licensing, vehicle tracking and fuel monitoring system requirements in conjunction with the Transport Supervisor.
• Process tickets resulting from traffic violations by company vehicle.
• Sort out breakdowns and towing of Gearhouse JHB vehicles in conjunction with the Transport Supervisor.

ACCIDENTS/THEFTS /HIJACKINGS
• Assist with all necessary paperwork associated with accidents, vehicle theft or hijackings.
• Communicate the appropriate procedures to follow in the event of an accident to all drivers.

PERSONNEL
• Manage drivers, offering guidance and support, improving work performance and resolving any conflicts arising within the division.
• Manage the Operations Admin team, offering guidance and support, improving work performance and resolving any conflicts arising within the division.
• Ensure that transport personnel adhere to the rules and regulations and policies and procedure of Gearhouse SA
• Check and authorise requirements for the Transport division regarding leave applications, training applications, time sheets etc

COSTS
• Supervise costs within the Transport division of the branch, by monitoring transport activities and acting as authorising signatory on all non-job-related expenditure related to the Transport division; such as cell phone accounts, First Auto cards, diesel expenditure, maintenance costs and general expenditure.
• Check and supervise Job related purchase Orders for Casual Labour, Per Diems & external trucking: - including bookings, authorisations and monthly reconciliations.

GENERAL

• Manage the generation of the Duty Roster for weekend on call staff.
• Run an accurate scheduling function pertaining to transport schedules and job card provision for each confirmed job as well as the updating and dissemination of same.
• Attend Weekly Operations Meetings.
• Report back to Management on issues regarding Logistics processes and job related problems.
• Liaising with suppliers and dealing with any issues which may arise.
• Assist management with any other duties as may be required.

Basic Knowledge:

• MS Office proficient
• Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment for the vehicles.
