My client, a leading ICT company with a national footprint, seeks to employ an experienced Unix Systems Administrator to fulfil a fundamental role on their IT team.

MAIN PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this role is to manage and maintain the infrastructure and related operating systems, applications within the department

JOB OBJECTIVES
• Administration of all infrastructure components within the department landscape
• Ensure up to date file maintenance on all servers
• Ensure up to date patches on all servers
• Ensure monitoring and alerting is in place for all components within the department landscape
• Database administration as required
• Liaise with team members from the network, security, VM hosting, backups and storage departments to ensure that the infrastructure
components within the department landscape is kept up to date and optimal
• Liaise with the development team to provide the required infrastructure for new projects
• Provide OS and infrastructure support in the case of outages and incidents

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Relevant degree /Diploma essential
• Minimum 3 years’ experience of which include all or some:
• HP-UX
• HP Service Guard
• UNIX
• Oracle
• SQL
• Support – incident management, problem management
