We’re seeking a dynamic individual as our Venue Manager.
Our amazing venue is European-style Wine Bar & Tasting Centre in the heart of central Cape Town.
Set in a 220 year-old Heritage building, the venue offers over 30 artisanal wines and bubblies by the glass, crafted SA beers and spirits along with delicious bar snacks and accompaniments.
The bar offers pool, darts and board games and presents an energetic and hip vibe. The Tasting Centre offers an Urban wine tasting experience during the day, and private function area for private bookings and/or formal tastings in the evenings.

Opened in December 2018, the venue is still young, but strongly entering its second phase of development. The company is an established wine retailer of 15 years, which services over 25,000 customers directly across South Africa and Namibia. The venue is very much a “brand home” for the retail business and seeks to both service existing clients and gain new customers too.

The successful candidate will have a desire and demonstrable ability to drive growth and further establish the venue as the premier wine bar and destination in central Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements:

Min 5 years’ relevant experience.
Hospitality / Tourism Diploma or qualification desirable.
Pro-Active management style with excellent guest relations skills.
Able to think on your feet and out the box.
Good knowledge & understanding of SA wines. A diploma or qualification an advantage.
Computer literate (MS Office essential) with POS System skills. Knowledge of iKentoo an advantage.
Own transport.

Duties:

All stock control and purchasing/ordering (weekly stock takes & daily stock checks)
Liaising with Head Office on behalf of the venue
Bookings, Reservations and email correspondence
Conceptualising and delivering tasting events and other promotions within the space to drive footfall
Instil and train a 100% guest satisfaction objective to employees.
Instil a target orientated environment for staff, ensure weekly and monthly revenue targets are met.
Staff hiring and rotas.
Inspect and document repairs and cleanliness of property to ensure optimum upkeep and overall venue appearance.
Ensure purchases made are within budget and by approved vendors.
Liaise with and promote the venue to neighbouring hotels & guest houses.
Pro-actively promote the venue to drive footfall and revenue.
