Kendrick Recruitment is now looking for an outstanding Wine Steward – Junior Sommelier for one of the most exclusive 5* hotels Cape Town has to offer.Ideally we are looking for a well presented candidate with impeccable wine knowledge regarding South African and International wines, vineyards, vintages, as well as brandies and cocktails etc along with an acute attention to fine detail. Not only must the candidate offer the guests of the hotel and dining room a 5* sliver service, they must also have a 5* nose and pallet to source the finest of wines for the finest of foods too. The position will work directly below and report to the Hotel’s Head Sommelier. This is an excellent position for an up and coming Sommelier that would like to further their skills and experience.The duties will include:Setting up - the dining area, lunch and dinner service, private functions, special requests, wine tastings – glasses, decanters and gueridon are available and readyBar and cocktail set up – equipment, glassware and stockDaily hosting of tasting sessions for guestsGuest interactions – wine preferences, pairing, recommendations, making saes and taking ordersWine and champagne serviceEnsure that all drinks are served in the correct glasses, at the correct temperature and where applicable with the correct garnish.Maintaining a high profile and tactful personal manner with guests during service timesOffering digestifs after dinnerLiaise with the Executive Chef regarding pairingPromote and organise local wine tours associated with the hotelStock management and ensuring the cellar is kept in an immaculate wayMonitor the temperature and humidity levels of the cellar and wine storage and restaurant on a daily basisTo keep up-to-date with new wine industry innovations, trends, new suppliers and products at all timesQualifications required:Completion of a formal wine qualification, preferably internationally recognized, e.g. WSET Level 3Minimum 3 years industry related (wine service) practical experience in a 5* or similar environmentThe package offered is highly competitive with a contribution to pension fund and medical aid.This position is available immediately.If you feel this is the position for you apply today!!!
