Main Objectives:
1. To develop, implement and manage systems of work flow between the project department and the workshop. This will include managing of production, production planning and scheduling of construction, quality and deadline control
2. Co-ordinate cost-effective planning, purchasing and manufacturing of all set elements and equipment maintenance and refurbishment for SDS.
3. Install/construct and dismantle set, draping or screen elements onsite, if required.
4. To implement and ensure quality control of all set elements in conjunction with the workshop and project department.
5. To ensure quality product throughout manufacturing process by implementing and managing a system that will ensure this.

Responsibilities:

WORKSHOP
• Attend daily operations meetings to finalise logistics of upcoming jobs.
• Ensure information given from projects department is correct and submitted to drawing department for final working drawings.
• Assist with the planning of manufacturing methods together with the drawing department and the workshop and ultimately ensure that this is correct on drawings.
• Ensure all working drawings are correct as per information given and submit to workshop for production.
• Plan and schedule confirmed and HP SDS jobs for production and set deadlines accordingly.
• Implement and manage systems to ensure all materials needed for each project are ordered correctly and delivered on time for production as planned.
• Manage a system of assigning crew to production line in order to ensure a smooth and on time delivery.
• Manage the overseeing of the manufacturing /construction /finishing of sets, structures and staging pieces to design specifications in conjunction with the workshop manager and project department.
• Perform a quality control function regarding product and delivery.
• Supervise and assist with general preparation of all set elements, including shipping, loading and cleaning, ensuring timely completion.
• Prepare and conduct a daily production meeting with the workshop manager and project managers where possible, to ensure deadlines are met and the next day’s production is planned and scheduled (update production schedule where necessary).


ONSITE
• Conduct himself appropriately on-site, adhering to dress codes and safety standards if required to go to site.
• Manage the setup/installation of equipment according to drawings, plans and/or instructions.
• Exercise flexibility and professionalism in all on-site dealings, particularly with regard to clients.
• Perform routine and emergency/preventative maintenance and installation repairs onsite.

PRODUCT MAINTENANCE & CONTROL
• Manage and develop the process to ensure that all projects are manufactured and constructed correctly and all finishing’s are to company quality and safety standards.
• Manage and develop the process of machine and tool maintenance together with operation and workshop manager, and provide a report to the Branch Manager
• Regular checks to ensure production is on time. Forecast and allocate work over time, and produce a working task list for all permanent/freelance SDS technicians and workshop staff.
• Manage the stock levels of material together with the workshop and operation manager excluding stores. Report to the operations manager.
• Develop and inform management of new products and production methods.
• Develop and maintain product and manufacturing skill training in the workshop, in consultation with the Operations Manager

HEALTH AND SAFETY
• Enforce safe working practices amongst technicians and workshop staff, ensuring that health and safety regulations are complied with.
• Manage and overlook the process to ensure that the Workshop and Stores areas are kept safe, clean and presentable at all times.
• Manage the process that all machines, tools and equipment are maintained and serviced according to schedule and as per law together with workshop manager and operation manager.
• Report any health and safety risks to Operations Manager and Branch Manager.

PERSONNEL
• Oversee and enhance the technical capabilities of workshop staff through guidance and training.
• Mentor the SDS technical team by directing their work efforts and addressing internal issues as they arise.

GENERAL
• Assist management with all other duties as required.

Requirements:
• Matric
• Course in Project Management or related experience
• At least 10 years’ experience in woodworking or set manufacturing
• Previous managerial experience with regard to running workshop management of staff
